Henry Ford Drives “Sweepstakes” to Victory bronze sculpture by Don Sommers, 2001, USA, signed on base, ed. of 22, commissioned by Ford Motor Company to celebrate their 100th Anniversary in Motorsports, from the only race the automotive pioneer ever competed in, of which he won, depicts H. Ford at the wheel of his first race car with mechanic clinging onto the running board, this piece was presented by Edsel Ford II to the Trakon Show and Display Co., in appreciation for their completion of two exact replicas of the original car, mounted on wooden base, 12” x 8.5”; lot also includes two photographs, “The Race That Changed Everything” original sepia tone print by James Haefner, USA, 2001, signed and numbered ed. of 250, features a recreation of that same historic fete, framed and matted, image size 18.25” x 14.5”; also color image of the company’s employees with the two cars they re-created, autographed by Edsel Ford II, framed and matted, image size 13.75” x 7.75”, A- cond., (minor scratches on sculpture’s base, minor handling on frames), lot of 3.
